LFW Day 4: Catwalk Round Up

day-4-blogbanner

And that’s a wrap… three days of non-stop partying have come to an end, as we close the doors on the Shopcade LFW party bus for the season. *Sob*

It’s been absolutely mega and we have had the best time meeting you all; welcoming you on board, chilling with you on the upper deck and snapping numerous pics of your looks outside the bus. Basically we’ve had a blast and we hope you have too!

Highlights from today included Gabby Young taking up the DJ decks first thing, followed by The Glitter Beats spinning the decks in the afternoon, right up until the end of the day.

Designer Akira Amani joined us for a quick Q&A to chat about her new line and the fab Jade Ellis rocked up in a bodycon Alice Palmer Knit to give us the lowdown on her style and new album.

If that wasn’t enough the gorgeous Fran from MIC popped back in for a catch up, turning interviewer for the day and chatting to designer Sarah Angold about her new collection and LFW fun and frolics so far.

LFW Day 3: Catwalk Round Up

Finally, a dry day @LFW and a welcome rest bite for my poor frozen hands (glove-less for two days and actually blue at one point) blistered feet (new shoes, pretty but really not practical) and a soaked parka which didn’t ever seem to dry out! Yes, traumas (slightly over dramatic, I’ll admit ;-)) have been faced at Somerset House, but today was the day when the sun shone and we welcomed more fashionistas aboard the party bus. Woo!

The day kicked off in style with the lovey Fran from MIC popping on board, rocking a printed short suit from ASOS complete with killer ankle boots from New Look and designer specs, looking every inch the celeb fashionista; toned, tanned and just plain gorgeous.

Next up we had the fab Electra Formosa and Ella Catliff founder of La Petite Anglaise giving us all a lesson in how to do fashion week chic. Ella rocked top to toe Mulberry (there was serious lusting after her Willow tote) whilst Electra gave us grown up grunge in her all black outfit complete with orange pop colour nails.

A glorious morn greeting the Shopcade crew this morning @ Somerset House as we kicked off day 2 of LFW with the arrival of our party bus. Yay!

In case you have been living under a rock for the past few months, we have commandeered a bus (well rented, but you know commandeered sounds way cooler ;-)) decked it out top to toe with all things pink and invited some of the coolest fashion peeps on board for some fun and frolics.

Today we greeted the fashion legend that is Hilary Alexander on board, as well as MTV DJ Lilah Parsons, Diana Vickers and the uber cool V V Brown to name just a few. Not to mention the endless stream of amazing fashion bloggers, who came to check out our beauty bar on the upper deck for a quick mani and makeover, before rushing onto the next show.

LFW Day 1: Catwalk Round Up

Well, it’s finally happened. LFW has kicked off in haze of rainstorms, broken stilettos and multiple layers of fluffy jumpers complete with a totes trend-ez bobble hat, which still did not keep me warm. There’s no getting around it… IT WAS COLD!

Still, I was undeterred in my freezing state and plodded on with the greatest show on earth which is LFW. Forget NY and Milan and Paris to come, London is where it is AT this season and if you didn’t believe that before, you sure should now.

Just look at how cool Day 1 was! Mark Fast (check out our live review here) PPQ, Nasir Mazhar & Eudon Choi … I could go on, but you get the picture. HUGE day 1 to kick things off in style.

Here’s our round up of the best, complete with a list to shop the latest styles straight from the catwalk on the high street. Damn we’re good. 😉

Shopcade Pre-LFW Blogger Brunch

What’s better than brunch on a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning? Shopcade hosted the first blogger event just off the reknowned Portabello Road, London, where we had a chance to cosy up to our favourite style bloggers over good food at the lovely Bumpkin, Notting Hill.

We chose the Queen’s Private Dining Room tucked away from the main restaurant upstairs, so we could really hear what the blogger’s had to say about our new app!

On the menu were a few brunch classics – full english, eggs benedict and eggs royale as well as some delicious super-food healthy options – from green kale and spinach soup to organic quinoa salad; I went for the classic eggs benedict and a strawberry smoothie.Yum!

Who has dessert with brunch? We do apparently! Not one to turn down the option of more delicious food, the bloggers and I proceeded to choose from sticky toffee pudding, triple chocolate truffle cake and ice cream.

Myself and bloggers Amy & Analise were undecided on what to go for so when in doubt, we decided to share all three. Sharing is caring and of course, guilt-free!

More to the point, with our fave 90s tunes playing in the background, the atmosphere was an ideal time to be relaxed and get their opinions heard. Each blogger filled in a questionnaire to test out our new blogger-friendly app, which we’re so hyped up about and we reckon they were too!

We couldn’t leave with out mentioning our Bus Party Event we’re hosting at London Fashion Week! With live DJ sets, special celebrity guests and giveaways its bound to get the party started during LFW!

More on that to come so stay tuned… #ShopcadeLFW

90s Style Icons: Who was your fave?

Oh the 90s. One big love affair with all things, er, cool. At least we thought it was cool, but then came the noughties and we went all futuristic and abandoned the naffness/so-bad-it’s-good-fashion of the 90s. Until now….

Yep, the fickle world of fashion has decided the 90s are now back ‘in’. We’re talking the works here- punk grunge, text on tees, over the knee socks, dungarees – the list goes on!

But what about the style icons who rocked them the first time round. Here’s our round up of the best 90s icons… who was your fave?!

The Spice Girls: My lovely colleagues will giggle at this one, knowing I am a huge fan, but even so these girls deserve the top spot on my list purely for all the trends they rocked without giving a hell. So, in no particular order…. Platform shoes/trainers/boots, babydoll dresses, tracksuits, halter necks, printed t-shirts, leopard print, hair glitter, bunches…. Yeah I could go on, and on AND on- OK I’ll stop… *sad face*

Cher from Clueless: To this day there has never been a film so quoted, so emulated, so LOVED. ‘As if’ and ‘Whatever’ became classic catchphrases overnight and Cher Horowitz became the girl we all wanted to be. A revolving wardrobe, a computer that picked out her outfits each day, shiny hair, the best BFFs like ever, oh and Paul Rudd as her stepbrother. Sigh.

We’re still at the beginning of awards season, but after the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards gave us some uber memorable fashion moments (Emma Watson’s backless dress teamed with pants anyone?!) how would the SAG Awards fare in the style stakes?

Well, not bad at all Shopcaders! Here’s our pick of the best dressed this year…

The Goss: Miley Cyrus for Marc Jacobs

on

Miley Cyrus for Marc Jacobs: Well well, look at Miley all grown up and moody for Marc Jacobs! We had a sneaky suspicion she would reinvent herself yet again for 2014 and landing a campaign for the ever lovely Marc is one of the best ways to do it. We’re loving the super stylised vision- a million miles away from the twerking PVC outfit and hair buns. We heart.

Brit nominees announced: Awards season is going a bit nuts at the moment. Fresh from the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday and ahead of the Golden Globes this weekend, we have some goss a little closer to home… the Brit Award nominees have been announced! No surprise that One Direction are tipped for glory with four gong nominations, whilst Jessie J is up for Best British Female Solo Artist against the equally lovely Ellie Goulding. It’s going to be a corker!

David Beckham for H&M Kids: Is there nothing this man can’t do? Seriously, not content with being the most beautiful man in the world (our view, but we’re sure you agree) and modelling in his undies for H&M (swoon) he has now designed a range of kidswear for the high-street brand as well! Who would understand better than Becks on how to dress your children fashionably? Romeo is already a Burberry model and Harper will land a modelling contract any day now, you mark our words!

Nicole Kidman for Jimmy Choo: She was involved in making one of the most expensive adverts of all time for Chanel a few years ago, and now new pics have surfaced of Nicole Kidman appearing in a campaign for Jimmy Choo and well, she’s certainly not afraid of stripping off, let’s say that! Appearing in high waisted knickers and a blazer (sans bra or top, we might add!) the 46-year-old (yes, we can’t believe it either) looks stunning. Oh and the bags and shoes she’s modelling for the brand don’t look half bad either!

And Finally…

blog.image-laura.bubble-251113-ukFashion Ed’s Pick of the Day: We know it’s only the second week in January, but since the sales kicked off in December, the dregs are going to be left if you don’t get your sale shopping sorted soon. So, Shopcade to the rescue! Check out our Final Sales Picks list here and bag yourself some serious bargains before the first new season drops come later this month.

The Goss: X Factor Special

on

Sam Bailey | Instagram

Sam Bailey wins the X Factor: Was there ever any doubt that Sam would lift the X Factor trophy this year? Sure, Nicky will have got the mum’s vote (as we predicted) but Sam had the voice- even though she had her thunder stolen by Nicole Scherzinger in the Saturday duet (hilarious, you have to look it up). Other gossip from this week’s X Factor… Ellie Goulding dueted with finalist Luke Friend in tiny velvet hot pants and a jewelled bralet (she looked amazing, may we just say?!) whilst Katy Perry went for an odd angelic get up (we’re talking halo, wings, the lot!) for her performance last night, but was torn to pieces on Twitter for her vocals. We just thought she had lovely shiny hair. Finally major fashion props must be given to Nicole for last night’s showstopper- a custom made gold flecked fishtail dress by Julien Macdonald– stunning. Well, that’s it until next year… how will we solider on? 😉

Miley’s Cheeky Xmas Selfie: Oh Miley, you cheeky little Christmas elf you. Posing with your top pulled up and only two ‘Merry Christmas’ stickers to preserve your modesty. Kids these days, eh?

Kelly Brook to pen autobiography: This is going to be a fab read! The ever gorgeous Kelly Brook has reportedly signed a £1million deal to pen her autobiography. Already tipped to be ‘sensational’ we’re looking forward to hearing all about her string of hunks and her stint on BGT a few years a go. Cant wait.

Andy Murray wins SPOTY: Ha, what a funny acronym. If you aren’t up on your lingo or have been hiding under a rock for the last 24 hours, our Wimbledon champ was crowned Sports Personality of the Year 2013. Cue lots of witty remarks about Andy’s lack of personality and how ironic it was to see him win. Personally we’re loving Murray in the office- guy has been dressed by Anna Wintour for heaven’s sake and is well on his way to matching his gorgeous girlfriend in the style stakes. Speaking of Kim, any sign of that hair deal yet?!

And finally…

blog.image-product-161213-ukFashion Ed’s Pick of the Day: It’s nearly Christmas! So what better way to celebrate than with an amusing Xmas t-shirt, which is all sparkly and pretty? Only £25 from River Island, go on make someone smile when they see this in their stocking 😉

The Goss: Jessie J performs at the Capital FM Xmas Ball

on

Jessie J’s glittery red hair: Can we just take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous Jessie J looks here please?! Performing last night at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball, JJ looked stunning in her red lacy bodysuit, red tuxedo jacket complete with glittery red hair fashioned into a retro hairstyle. We don’t know about you but we are seriously crushing on this girl’s style right now.

Kian Egan wins I’m a Celebrity: Westlife fans must have been voting in their droves for the past few weeks, as Kian was crowned king of the jungle last night! It wasn’t exactly a shock, given who he was up against, but we totes thought Joey would have gone all the way and his eviction last week made everything go a bit flat. Still, there’s his romance with Amy to keep us entertained, hotting up if his twitter feed is anything to go by! Watch this space…

Final Three of The X Factor Confirmed: Noooo Rough Copy have gone! Who will we swoon over now!? Luke Friend and Nicholas McDonald are a bit young and Sam is a lady, so there is a severe lack of man eye candy in this year’s X Factor final! Still, we reckon it’s going to be cutie Nicholas’ year- he’s the mum’s favourite after all.

We Heart Holographic Fashion: Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? You are of course! Holographic fashion is hot to trot right now, so check out our list of mirrored goodies for you to rock this festive season.

blog.image-bubble-daily.goss.1-031213-ukFashion Ed’s Pick of the Day: Art deco is uber fashionable right now and these gorgeous Dorothy Perkins chandelier drop earrings are the perfect way to work this trend. Get them quick, they won’t be around for long- they’re under a tenner!
