Shopcade Does: Guirado Design x The Saatchi Gallery Magazine Party

Last Wednesday night we were lucky enough to go to the launch of the new Apocolypse Collection of the Guirado Design Autumn/Winter 2014 collection at the Cock N Bull Gallery, part of Mark Hix’s Tramshed restaurant, in Shoreditch.

Luxury accessories, art and interiors brand Guirado Design delivered their second collection of limited edition HD prints on fine fabrics featuring digital reinterpretations of the original artwork by visionary Spanish artist Juan Antonio Guirado.

Guirado’s ‘wearable’ designs

Hosted by his daughter, Catalina Guirado, Creative Director, and the driving force behind Guirado Design, she has reworked Guirado’s original artwork as limited edition HD textile prints on wool and silk, or cashmere and modal scarves creating ‘wearable art’.

For Autumn/Winter 2014 the Apocolypse collection features double skull prints against the decayed landscape of the original artwork reimagined in hues of gold on black and peacock blue on cocoa, and multi-skull reworks that create a kaleidoscope effect in African violet or vibrant red.

Absolut Expresso Martini’s & Peal Coolers

The intimate cocktail reception and showcase was hosted in association with Art & Music: The Saatchi Gallery Magazine and ABSOLUT who created delicious espresso martini’s and pear coolers.

There was also a more interactive experience with Pernod Absinthe bar serving ‘The Green Beast‘ and an Absinthe Fountain. Admittedly I am not usually a fan of Absinthe (aniseed and I are not the best of friends) but the host persuaded me to try the Absinthe Fountain in the cutest of glasses (see below) so I could’t refuse! In fact, the cocktail was intriguingly nice, I quite surprised myself.

Which is the good luck charm?

Oliver Proudlock attended with tailor Joshua Kane. Joshua launches his debut ready to wear and accessories collection, Joshua Kane Bespoke, in March. Both Proudlock and Kane were dressed in polka dot-heavy tailoring from the label.

VV Brown, Nate James and Olivia Cox also attended the launch. The collection officially launches to press and buyers in February 2014 and is available at retail from August / September 2014.

Feeling peckish we ascended to upstairs for one of Tramshed’s renowned steaks. All in all, it was a delightfully elegant affair.

LFW Day 2: Catwalk Round Up

A glorious morn greeting the Shopcade crew this morning @ Somerset House as we kicked off day 2 of LFW with the arrival of our party bus. Yay!

In case you have been living under a rock for the past few months, we have commandeered a bus (well rented, but you know commandeered sounds way cooler ;-)) decked it out top to toe with all things pink and invited some of the coolest fashion peeps on board for some fun and frolics.

Today we greeted the fashion legend that is Hilary Alexander on board, as well as MTV DJ Lilah Parsons, Diana Vickers and the uber cool V V Brown to name just a few. Not to mention the endless stream of amazing fashion bloggers, who came to check out our beauty bar on the upper deck for a quick mani and makeover, before rushing onto the next show.

Want to know a secret? Of course you do! OK, well……V V Brown will be hosting an exclusive event on Shopcade’s LFW Party Bus on 17th Feb and we have the inside scoop on the lady herself right here! Find out what’s in her Shopcade this season, the lowdown on her vintage business and who she’s championing @ LFW this season.

Hey V V,  so spill…what’s in your Shopcade this season? Lots of my fave colours- white, yellow and silver.

How did you first come up with your trademark retro look? I don’t really have this look anymore. 2009 was when I released my first album and I was very much into retro fashion but with my new album Samson and Delilah (2013) and between 2010- present I have gradually moved onto loving fashion that is a little more minimalist and encompasses structure and an appreciation for design.

Tell us about (it’s amazing by the way!) What made you want to set this up? We believe in sustainability and ethical fashion. We recycle fabrics and make items of clothing that are amazing but contribute towards an environmental cause.

Any emerging designers you’ve been particularly proud of finding and promoting on V V Vintage? Mary Benson. We are very big fans.
