on

url

Mercedes Benz-Fashion Week is a non-stop action packed week. Designers, celebs and tastemakers are getting their first looks at the trends for Spring 2014. MBFW is well underway in New York, and on day two, we got a glimpse of the new collection from one of our beloved designers, Rebecca Minkoff. Although her handbags are a staple for many of us, her new spring ready-to-wear pieces will soon also become staples for our spring wardrobes. Her designs were very wearable, featuring vibrant hues and floral embroidered pieces. Check out the live runway show which featured a live performance with Janelle Monae.

Fall 2013

Though we have to wait until spring to wear these looks, we pulled together a selection of our favorite Rebecca Minkoff staples for this Fall 2013.

Also be sure to enter our Fashion Week contest on Instagram. Just take a photo of your favorite fall look and tag #ShopcadeNYFW to enter to win $250 to Bloomingdales!

Shopcade Blogger Spotlight: A Rosie Outlook

on

Rosie lives in the New Forest with her boyfriend and her dog, Bodhi. She blogs over at A Rosie Outlook and it is really just her corner of the internet for posting things she gets up to. This usually means photographs of outfits, forest walks or adventures, recipes and forays into baking, shopping and wishlists, reviews, and her latest attempts to update their rather 70s-ified house.  She also loves collecting old film cameras, being by the sea, sending letters and packages and pottering in the garden.

What do you do in your spare time?
I like photography, reading, playing with my little dog, sending and receiving post, being out in the countryside, baking and making my house lovely.

What is your favourite shopping destination near to you?
I predominantly do my shopping on the internet to be honest, occasionally I’ll go to Southampton for a high street trawl but mainly I’m an internet shopper!

How would you describe your Shopcade?
I love that Shopcade opens up brands and products that you might not have ordinarily come across so I’d say that my Shopcade is full of things I didn’t know I needed, (but now I do!)

What are your three favourite products on Shopcade and why?

  • I absolutely adore this Camera Lens Mug from Firebox, though I don’t know if I could bear to put my tea in something that looks so genuinely like a lens!
  • I hadn’t come across 18 and East as a brand before I joined Shopcade but now I want everything.  Top of the list is this gorgeous 18 and East 60s Dress
  •  Cheney Pet Chaise Longue – I can’t help feeling like my little puppy Bodhi basically needs a chaise longue – better get saving!

What trends are rocking your world at the moment?
After wearing girly dresses, (when the weather allows), in the summer I am fully embracing the grungier, tougher A/W trends and I’m especially loving studded denim and camouflage.

Which Shopcades do you take inspiration from?
I am loving the Blogger Spotlights on the Shopcade Blog as I get a lot of inspiration from other bloggers generally, but browsing other people’s Shopcades, (especially those with a quirky style and a love of dresses), is such a great way to find new things!

Which celebrities do you take inspiration from?
As I said previously, I tend to take more inspiration from other bloggers and street style than celebrities but if I could steal one celebrity’s wardrobe it would definitely be Mollie King from The Saturdays, she always looks so flawless.

What three words summarise you?
Busy, excited, small.

Singing badly, (and loudly) along to music, dancing (and failing at it unless It’s dancing Salsa), blogging, photography, experimenting with different internet technologies (I love programming websites and stuff!)

What is your favourite shopping destination near to you?
The Internet – there are just so many brilliant online retailers that offer products that can make you so much more unique than those who shop in high-street shops!

A safe haven for those addicted to anything internet and beauty & fashion! It’s like Pinterest, but about a gazillion times better!!

Which celebrities do you take inspiration from?

Blogger Spotlight: The Fashion Resister

on

Tessa Brown, aka The Fashion Resister, loves to read, follow beauty and fashion trends and shop. She is extremely impressionable and prone to buying pretty things just so she can look at them.

On her blog, Fashion Resister are the fashion and beauty views of  this size 18 woman whose only achievements in these areas are to be able to spot a Holly Fulton piece a mile off, and can proudly claim a 500+ piece makeup collection.

What do you do in your spare time?
I love reading, for me and to my daughter. I like to draw and my geeky secret is I’m obsessed with playing MTG

Where is your favourite shopping destination near to you?
Chapelfield in Norwich

How would you describe your Shopcade?
It’s a bit higgledy piggledy but that’s like me – I jump from one trend to another far too quickly and I’m guilty of buying pretty things that I will probably never use or wear, but I have to have them so I can just look at them!

What are your three favourite products on Shopcade and why?

Urban outfitters white Mr. P light – this is pure genius, I want it purely for the lolz factor!

Weston Scarves Elestial Quartz Scarf Multicoloured – I collect scarves, and Weston scarves are yet to feature in my collection but they are my favourite brand for gorgeous unique designs so I hope to remedy that soon.

Thierry Mugler Alien Eau de Parfum Natural Spray 30ml – this is my favourite scent ever, and the only one that I have repurchased.

What trends are rocking your world at the moment?
I have already moved into A/W trends – having a bit of a gothic side I always find A/W trends easier to fit into my wardrobe than S/S trends.

At the moment, purple and studs are very prevalent in my wardrobe and I’m hoping to add leather accessories to that very soon.

Which Shopcades do you take inspiration from?
I love Bloomzy – we have very similar styles so she always has something new to look at when I log on.

I also follow Liberty – if I lived closer to London I could while my time away in their stores; seeing as I don’t, I can do it virtually, which I love!

Which celebrities do you take inspiration from?
I don’t really follow celebrity style but Gwen Stefani is always flawless, as is Kelly Osbourne, and they are the two that tend to make me look twice at celeb pictures.

What three words summarise you?
Unique, changeable and impressionable (when it comes to fashion)!

Shopcade Blogger Spotlight: Lori Smith

on

Lori Smith is a vintage-loving sex-positive LGBT feminist, blogger and prolific Tweeter. An online writer who specialises in sex/relationships and fashion, (specifically vintage and lingerie), she has spoken at a number of conferences including SHINE 2011, Eroticon 2012, Cybher 12, and BurlyCamp. A lover of fashion since childhood, she is about to start work on an MA at the London College of Fashion and, despite being known as lipsticklori, she rarely wears lipstick! Read Lori’s blog here.

What do you do in your spare time?
Photography, burlesque and assorted craft activities. This may all have to be ditched in favour of reading and essay writing now!

What is your favourite shopping destination near to you?
Seven Dials. They have Tatty Devine, Coco de Mer, Poste Mistress, Magma and Rokit too, if you head towards Covent Garden.

How would you describe your Shopcade?
A work in progress! Seriously though, I guess it’s currently a series of themed wishlists.

What are your three favourite products on Shopcade and why?
So far I can’t stop drooling over a Vivienne Westwood Anglomania dress and an Aspinal of London Manhattan clutch with chain that I found. I guess they’re my favourite simply because I want them but can’t have them – funds won’t allow that. I’d top it all off with some Narcisco Rodriguez For Her as I just love musky perfumes.

What trends are rocking your world at the moment?
I’m loving that jewel colours are back for AW12. I already have lots of red, green and blue in my wardrobe, so I guess purple is next. Handy, as I think there will be a lot of it about.

Which Shopcades do you take inspiration from?
Anyone who has a keen eye for design and a good sense of style, will be able to create a Shopcade that grabs my attention.

Which celebrities do you take inspiration from?
I don’t really look to celebrities for inspiration, although I do admire the style of Paloma Faith and Imelda May.

What three words summarise you?
Friendly, optimistic and quirky.

How would you describe your Shopcade?
A mixture of items and current wishlists that give a little insight into my unique personal style and rather odd personality.

What are your three favourite products on Shopcade and why?

What trends are rocking your world at the moment?
Baroque is my absolute favourite trend this season! As more items hit the high street I’m pretty certain my Shopcade will reflect that.

Which Shopcades do you take inspiration from?

  • Liberty – I love the selection of items available, especially the designer homeware! If I had the chance I would re-decorate my house in items from this Shopcade.
  • Urban Outfitters – I could pick out a hundred items I would wear or use from this store.
  • I often search for Health & Beauty products – Shopcade has all the latest (and best) health & beauty products. I don’t really need to look any further.

Which celebrities do you take inspiration from?
I don’t often look to celebrities for inspiration, but there are a few stylish women whom I always love to take notes from: Daphne Groeneveld (model), Audrey Tautou (actress) & Eriko Nakao (Japanese model).

What three words summarise you?
Eccentric, eclectic and energetic.
