One word comes to mind when describing the #streetstyle at the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, hot! Both the weather and the fashion was enough to make you short of breath.

Fashionistas braced the heat to strut their best looks from simple and classic to edgy and retro. There was something for everyone. The Lincoln Center was full of unique fashions from elaborate gowns to grunge looks and everything in between. Models, bloggers and editors alike swarmed the scene in their best summer attires.

The most popular looks included lots of black, white and neutral colors from head to toe. There were also a few trips back in time with some looks from the seventies encompassing the flared pant look, as well as the shift dress looks from the sixties.

A lot of the #streetstyles also included wide-leg trousers and full skirts, the bigger, the better and of course lots of fabulous sunglasses to keep out that NYC glare.

If you’re looking for fresh ideas and must haves for your closet then put your shades on and prepare to see some bright stars straight from the streets of NYC.

Speaking of stars, we managed to catch a certain global fashionista/superstar (hint- it’s only bloomin’ Rihanna!) hitting up the Alexander Wang show looking immaculate in denim. Have a look at our exclusive video below of her arriving and check out our interviews with some other bloggers too!

Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? Certainly not us!

Couldn’t help but take notice of these fashion divas as they took the scene by storm in their classy attires; pure power dressing vs peaceful hippy!

Ahead of the SS15 London Collections: Men that kicks off on Sunday, we chose our Top five menswear designers who showcased their collections in January and are back again this season to show us their new line. Even though it’s only two years old, LC:M has worked hard to secure it’s name as THE event to showcase the finest menswear designers and trends in Europe. As a staple of the menswear calendar, with up-and-coming designers to Savile Row tailors, London Collections: Men is a celebration of the start of the season.

Joseph Turvey

Young British designer Joseph Turvey is back for LC:M once again, after previously being supported by Fashion East. Only two years ago Joseph graduated from university and his experimentation with hand drawn illustrations within his design have had everybody talking about him. He mixes his intricate illustrations with his sports luxe style to create some beautiful pieces. His innovative techniques and striking designs secured him a River Island capsule collection, showcasing his illustrations in a camouflage print collection.

Met Gala 2014: Best Dressed & Beautiful!

Who doesn’t love a good ball gown?! Well, turns out Cara Delevingne! Queen C shunned the traditional dress code and rocked white tuxedo pants, a black crossover bralet and enough bling to blind people at the Met Gala on Monday night.

Don’t worry though, plenty of other celebs went for the traditional fairy tale gowns on the evening. SJP rocked an Oscar De La Renta monochrome ensemble, which totally stole the show (given the size of it!) whilst at the other end of the scale, the gorgeous Kendall Jenner went for custom made Topshop. We love a gal who keeps it high street!

The theme was ‘White Tie and Decorations’ in line with the exhibition which honours 50s designer Charles James, which some stuck to more than others!

Here’s the other stars who we thought nailed it for the biggest night out in fashion…

How to Dress Like Rihanna

When it comes to celeb style, there’s no doubt the Rihanna look is one of the most sought after in the world. It’s also one of the most difficult to master, purely for the fact that she always seems to be rocking a different look every time she’s caught on camera. Still, that hasn’t stopped us picking out the items she seems to love most and delivering them for you to enjoy!

Check out what you need below so you to can dress like Ri-Ri…

The Denims Have It

Getting the Rihanna look on your bottom half is probably the easiest part, because at least there’s some consistency here. If it’s shorts or trousers, it is always denims.

The shorts aren’t just shorts, either; we’re talking hot pants, which if they were any smaller would probably be banned! There are several options to explore when going for jeans, but boyfriend fits are a better option than the skinnies that you’d normally buy, if only because you get a little more room to manoeuvre and don’t feel like you’ve been stitched into them!

L.A. Confidential with Patrice Bisiot

on

blog-Hair-stylist-to-the-Stars

From runways to the red carpet and from music videos to fashion editorials, hair stylist to the stars Patrice Bisiot has seen it all! We grabbed him for a quick chat to get his top tips on keeping your hair looking fab. From the most iconic haircuts to the celeb style he rates above all others, it’s clear that Patrice is on a mission to bring sexy back this season in a BIG way!

Which celebrities have great hair at the moment?

I love the direction Katie Holmes is taking with her hair: longer with warmer tones mixed into soft waves. Fun enough to send a message of youth, but mature enough to be age appropriate. Selena Gomez is starting to show more diversity and grown-up looks, taking more risks on the red carpet and demonstrating you can be very young but still display sophistication and taste. Kelly Clarkson seemed to struggle for a long time with hair styles but has found her way home! She showed a longer, sexier haircut in a hazelnut colour for her last video… way to go!

Can you tell us about the three biggest hair trends for this winter? What are your do’s and dont’s?

The three biggest trends? Let’s start with the length: long hair is back. That eternal symbol of femininity throughout the eras…. Feeling like you are missing length? Thickness? Volume? Clip in extensions is your BEST bet! But please be soft and kind to your hair- these glued on strands are your worst enemy! It will pull and break the cuticle creating major damage and it often shows a difference in density, so bye bye visual. This can be a real nightmare!

Now, regarding colour: warm, caramel and subtle golden light browns are in! Enough with the umber please! Use that faded, tired blond as your undertone, let it be the backdrop for the ultimate canvas! It will bring depth and dimension into the overall result. By adding in pigments to your hair it will help body and response when styling. During summer, that poor keratin has been used and abused more than its turn. Time for great results and hair TLC!

As for texture: soft waves, feminine movements, S-shape bangs hitting the eye just right to bring sexy back! A way to remember the old world into modern culture!

The Five B’s: Which Winter Hat Are You?!

on

‘Snow is fallin’ all around me!’ Oh no wait it hasn’t started to snow yet… but that doesn’t mean it isn’t time to dig out the winter woollies and purchase that all important new winter hat!

The question is…. Which winter hat are you? What? You didn’t realise that your style was completely defined by the kind of hat that you wore?! Well, that simply won’t do. Let us school you on the five B’s of the hat world…

Bobble Hat: Geeky cool at its very best. Once reserved for the nerds of this world who were more worried about keeping warm than being fashionable, the humble bobble hat has made a return to the spotlight. You will either be the person that has worn one for years and doesn’t give a damn, or a newbie cashing in on the hot look this season. MIC’s Millie Mackintosh & Kelly Brook are the celeb messiahs of this trend, so look to them for some style inspo if you’re struggling to find your bobble this season.

Bowler: You’re too cool for school; a fashionista who always looks good and the bowler hat you just happen to have lying around completes any look effortlessly. You are always up on the latest trends, like to make an effort for any occasion and love nothing more than checking out the catwalk and interpreting it for the high street.

Beanie: Laid back and relaxed is your style, as evident by the slouchy beanie you just happened to don this chilly morn to a) keep your head warm and b) cover up your bed hair. You’re in good company here as Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are BIG fans too.

Beret: Bonjour! What do you mean you’re not French?! Oh, so it turns out anyone can wear a beret nowadays and isn’t just reserved for the chic style queens of Paris. Hurray for you, you little fashionista you. Championed by the likes of Clueless’ Cher (the epitome of cool) Rachel Bilson and Lea Michele, the beret is a firm favourite this season to top off your sleek pencil skirt and fluffy jumper. Et voila!

Baseball: Well hello there you street style cutie you! Baseball caps are no longer relegated to hiding messy hair, going to the gym, hiding from the paparazzi etc. These days the size (don’t get any ideas you naughty readers!), style and brand are all that matter with celebs like Rihanna, Beyonce and Cara- yep her again- all being big fans. It’s fair to surmise you’re at home in your baseball cap, jeans and sweats, but like to think a cool bomber and heels will smarten up your style if required.

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Topshop Punk Tartan Balloon Trousers

on

The punk trend is a hard-to-miss look marked by a whole lotta leather and PVC, intense shades of red and yellow interwoven in bold plaid prints, and, more often than not, accessorized with safety pins and zippers. Although the edgy items are on display in just about every store this autumn/winter that doesn’t make the bell-and-whistle laden look any less intimidating to try.

If you’ve been hesitant to add a punk piece to your wardrobe, we think we might have found one – Topshop Punk Tartan Balloon Trousers – that will fit into your closet regardless if you’re a classic, trendy, or eclectic type. Here are three easy ways to pull off the punk look and add a little wild to your wardrobe.

The Clash Goes Classic

1 Piece, 3 Ways: Topshop Punk Tartan Balloon Trousers

If your style is on the simple and sweet side, you can give punk a whirl by adding modern-preppy staples like this polka dot blouse, which helps pull the periwinkle out in the pant, and a quirky knitted bunny rabbit sweater. Add chunky Chelsea boots for a twist. Pretty AND punk rock?! Yes, it’s possible!

The Goss: Hollywood does Halloween!

on

blog.image-Daily.Goss.Hollywood.does.Halloween-281013-uk

Hollywood Does Halloween: Well they don’t do thing by halves those celebs do they? Hollywood went Halloween mad at the weekend, with a whole host of famous faces going all out to impress. Our fave? Has to be Paris Hilton (remember her?) who took inspiration from Shopcade and rocked THAT Miley twerking teddy costume we featured a few weeks ago. Hair in two high buns and heart shaped glitter glasses, Paris looked fab Other shout outs have to go out to the lovely Fergie AKA Mrs Josh Duhamel who rocked up at a party dressed as a skeleton and a frightening one at that. We heart.

Miss Dynamix get the X Factor boot: In perhaps the most tedious year ever, the best people seem to be leaving early if this week’s voting was anything to go by. Two of the hot faves in the bottom two? Say it ain’t so… Well, er it is because the fab fashion trio Miss Dynamix got the boot after they faced Hannah Barrett in the sing off. Cue lots of voting fix backlash… blah blah, bored now.

Lady Gaga performs on X Factor: The contestants may be causing us a snore fest, but the calibre of celeb performances so far have been brilliant. Ellie Goulding looking half naked in week one, Katy Perry rocking a tiger corset last week and well, last night, all hail the queen of quirk, Lady Gaga as she returned to the X Factor stage to sing her new single. Looking AMAZING in a flesh coloured bra (decorated with sea shells of course!) matching undies and a long blonde wig, her acoustic version of Venus went down a storm. And can we just say please, she is looking hot right now… no skin and bones, just a healthy looking lady. We like. A LOT.

Rihanna’s naked snake love for GQ: Oh good god. Just when you thought she could shock no more, Rihanna has gone and posed topless (nothing new there you might think) with a snake. Yep, a LIVE SNAKE. To celebrate GQ’s 25th anniversary Damien Hirst directed bad girl RiRi in the buff channeling Medusa… complete with snakes coming out of her head….Nice!
