London Fashion Week is here, and we are super excited @ Shopcade HQ, mainly because tomorrow marks the start of our #ShopcadeLFW exclusive pop-up event in Covent Garden!

We’ll be hosting a selection of amazing brands from our Designer Store, including the likes of Gemma Goldstone, High Spirit and KARIZMA, plus there will be blogger meet ups, live music and a mini makeover station where you can get your nails manicured by Elegant Touch and more!

So make sure you hit us up on your way wandering around Somerset House this SS15 season; it’s the only place to be 😉

Now, onto the day’s showing; who stood out on Day One and who really didn’t hit their style stride? Read on below…

Bora Aksu: Wow. That’s how you stand out on Day One. Yes, we know there’s still the power players of Burberry and co. to come, but this collection was so dreamy we’re ready to declare it one of our faves of Spring, even at this early stage! Layers of organza, sheer panels, cut out crochet and a complimentary palette of white, purple and navy blue sewing the whole collection together. One word; STUNNING.

Who made the FROW?  Laura Whitmore, Nina Nesbitt & MIC’s Rosie Fortescue.

Eudon Choi: This show is always a hot ticket and demand only increases every season, so if you get a seat, then consider it the equivalent of a golden ticket! Never afraid to go his own way and shun other catwalk influences, this collection was surprisingly dark for spring. There were hints of colour in beautiful grecian style dresses with a fluted hem and stunning printed tuxedos, but the overall theme of the collection was perfect tailoring, albeit relaxed and loose.

Who made the FROW? Susie Bubble & Delilah

J.JS Lee: Modern, simplistic, and clean; an exquisite collection presented which captured the spring colour palette to a tee; muted pastels in green and white, contrasted with beautiful big blooms in blue, white and black. Hugely wearable; a fresh take on summer that’s got us wishing it was March already!

Who made the FROW? Millie Mackintosh & Olivia Cox

The Designer Store Meets: Crown And Glory!

This week we’re crushing on celeb brand fave Crown and Glory! We caught up with her for a quick chat to discuss the summer’s hottest trends, her fave pieces on the Designer Store and why her motto is “Because subtle accessories are a waste of everyone’s time”. Damn Straight!

What made you start Crown and Glory?

Crown and Glory started as a hobby when I was in my final year of university in 2010. I was studying Photographic Art, and the final year resulted in one final body of work, which was a long and arduous process compared to the smaller, 8 week long project we’d been used to. I turned my hand to creating accessories for myself as a means to keep the artistic fire alive and to be able to have something more immediate than the other creative works I was producing.

Coupled with my love for fashion and for always wearing something in my hair, the first piece I created with a headband for cascading, hand painted feather butterflies. Soon, friends and peers started requesting that I create pieces for them, and a dear friend who had been selling jewellery online for a while suggested I set up an online store. I’ll be forever indebted to her for giving me that first push!

What made you interested in starting a career in design and fashion?

There’s never been any other option really, According to my mother, my first sartorial choices were made in my toddling years – she’d have to lay out outfits for me to choose from or a tantrum would ensue. As a child, you’d always find me in the dressing up box. As a teenager, I was customising everything in sight. Working in a design and fashion based career feels as natural to me as breathing.

What is your favourite piece from your collection available on Shopcade Store?

There’s a special place in my heart for our Liberace Kitty Ears, I wear them all the time!

How would you sum up the Crown and Glory brand?

Because subtle accessories are a waste of everyone’s time.

What inspires you?

Cliched and contrived it may be, but my inspirations are from a vast array of sources – street style, high fashion, couture – people, stylists and designers who aren’t afraid to be a little different and have a lot of fun.

The Five B’s: Which Winter Hat Are You?!

‘Snow is fallin’ all around me!’ Oh no wait it hasn’t started to snow yet… but that doesn’t mean it isn’t time to dig out the winter woollies and purchase that all important new winter hat!

The question is…. Which winter hat are you? What? You didn’t realise that your style was completely defined by the kind of hat that you wore?! Well, that simply won’t do. Let us school you on the five B’s of the hat world…

Bobble Hat: Geeky cool at its very best. Once reserved for the nerds of this world who were more worried about keeping warm than being fashionable, the humble bobble hat has made a return to the spotlight. You will either be the person that has worn one for years and doesn’t give a damn, or a newbie cashing in on the hot look this season. MIC’s Millie Mackintosh & Kelly Brook are the celeb messiahs of this trend, so look to them for some style inspo if you’re struggling to find your bobble this season.

Bowler: You’re too cool for school; a fashionista who always looks good and the bowler hat you just happen to have lying around completes any look effortlessly. You are always up on the latest trends, like to make an effort for any occasion and love nothing more than checking out the catwalk and interpreting it for the high street.

Beanie: Laid back and relaxed is your style, as evident by the slouchy beanie you just happened to don this chilly morn to a) keep your head warm and b) cover up your bed hair. You’re in good company here as Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are BIG fans too.

Beret: Bonjour! What do you mean you’re not French?! Oh, so it turns out anyone can wear a beret nowadays and isn’t just reserved for the chic style queens of Paris. Hurray for you, you little fashionista you. Championed by the likes of Clueless’ Cher (the epitome of cool) Rachel Bilson and Lea Michele, the beret is a firm favourite this season to top off your sleek pencil skirt and fluffy jumper. Et voila!

Baseball: Well hello there you street style cutie you! Baseball caps are no longer relegated to hiding messy hair, going to the gym, hiding from the paparazzi etc. These days the size (don’t get any ideas you naughty readers!), style and brand are all that matter with celebs like Rihanna, Beyonce and Cara- yep her again- all being big fans. It’s fair to surmise you’re at home in your baseball cap, jeans and sweats, but like to think a cool bomber and heels will smarten up your style if required.
