Steal Leah McFall’s Style On Shopcade!

Leah McFall

We offish have a new girl crush and her name is Leah McFall! Looking awesome in her new vid for ‘Home’ with the equally stylish, we caught up with the gal who dressed her, our Designer Store favourite Nikita Karizma!

What kind of look was Leah after for her new video?

Leah’s stylist was looking for iridescent, pastel, fluffy, holographic pieces and loved our new KARIZMA collection!  He pulled in a lot of pieces for her music video shoot and performances in LA.

We were working on a custom long sleeved neoprene crop for her also, but we are so pleased she wore the baby pink fluffy heart top as it looked super cute on her in the holographic iridescent music video.

What do you love about Leah?

She is a phenomenal British talent, we loved to collaborate with her for such a special moment in her career and wish her all the best.

Love Leah’s look? Then you can get the EXACT piece on the Designer Store right here. Get it or regret it, it won’t be around for long!

The Designer Store Meets: Crown And Glory!

This week we’re crushing on celeb brand fave Crown and Glory! We caught up with her for a quick chat to discuss the summer’s hottest trends, her fave pieces on the Designer Store and why her motto is “Because subtle accessories are a waste of everyone’s time”. Damn Straight!

What made you start Crown and Glory?

Crown and Glory started as a hobby when I was in my final year of university in 2010. I was studying Photographic Art, and the final year resulted in one final body of work, which was a long and arduous process compared to the smaller, 8 week long project we’d been used to. I turned my hand to creating accessories for myself as a means to keep the artistic fire alive and to be able to have something more immediate than the other creative works I was producing.

Coupled with my love for fashion and for always wearing something in my hair, the first piece I created with a headband for cascading, hand painted feather butterflies. Soon, friends and peers started requesting that I create pieces for them, and a dear friend who had been selling jewellery online for a while suggested I set up an online store. I’ll be forever indebted to her for giving me that first push!

What made you interested in starting a career in design and fashion?

There’s never been any other option really, According to my mother, my first sartorial choices were made in my toddling years – she’d have to lay out outfits for me to choose from or a tantrum would ensue. As a child, you’d always find me in the dressing up box. As a teenager, I was customising everything in sight. Working in a design and fashion based career feels as natural to me as breathing.

What is your favourite piece from your collection available on Shopcade Store?

There’s a special place in my heart for our Liberace Kitty Ears, I wear them all the time!

How would you sum up the Crown and Glory brand?

Because subtle accessories are a waste of everyone’s time.

What inspires you?

Cliched and contrived it may be, but my inspirations are from a vast array of sources – street style, high fashion, couture – people, stylists and designers who aren’t afraid to be a little different and have a lot of fun.

So just to recap… not only do you get the chance to see Little Mix on the 25th May in the flesh, you could also be strutting your stuff in a KARIZMA exclusive at the 02 in London! So what are you waiting for? Get sharing now and whilst you’re at it take a sneaky peek of the girls strutting their stuff for ‘Salute’ below… can you spot the pieces Nikita designed?

As HUGE fans of Little Mix here @Shopcade HQ, it was a total no brainer to team up with Nikita to showcase her amazing designs on the girls and we’re sure you’ll agree, they look amazing!

We caught a quick five mins with the lady herself to chat about designing for a music video vs her own collections and just how she would sum up Little Mix’s look in Salute…

What was your inspiration behind the design?

Little Mix wore clothes from my Spring/Summer collection in their latest music video for Salute. The shapes and structure of garments in the collection were inspired by female power and there was a strong underground feeling of London in the collection.

Do you tailor each piece to their personality?

In the past I have made clothes based on the girls’ personality and style, which is a fun way to collaborate with Little Mix as they are four individuals in a girl band. For this collaboration, however, their stylist simply pulled in clothes from my collection that she felt was right for their look in the Salute video.

How different is it to design for a music video than to design your own collection?

Pretty different! With a music video it is a collaboration between the designer, stylist, music artist, management, record label, producer, choreographer and well, the list goes on! Also the music industry works around the clock so it is normally an intense few days! With my own collection, I take a few months to design and create it and it’s completely a solo vision. I listen to Little Mix’s music in the studio sometimes, so it is interesting to see my clothes in their video after their music has also been in the background whilst I am designing.

Which do you prefer?

I do love adapting my style and collaborating with the music industry as it gives another dimension to the fashion pieces, whilst on the other hand with my own collection its completely an individual creative expression! I enjoy them both equally, but I do love the journey of seeing clothes from my collections end up in the hands of the world’s most cutting edge music artists and producers.

Finally, how would you sum up this look?

We couldn’t agree more!

The Goss: Nicole Scherzinger’s High Street Style

Nicole Scherzinger is a cutie in cut-out: Who knew Nicole was such a fan of Shopcade?! No sooner do we post about cut-out being hot to trot, does the gorgeous lady herself step out in a black cut-out number to do some after-hours partying post X Factor. Yours for the bargain price of £16, shop the exact same dress from New Look here and check out this cute pic Nicholas McDonald posted of himself and the lady in question.

Cheryl Cole back in the hot seat? Hold the phone… is Cheryl Cole about to make a dramatic return to the UK X Factor next year? If rumours are to be believed not only is Simon Cowell on his way back to save the show, but he has also persuaded Cheryl to return. We thought hell would have frozen over before Chezza agreed to come back, but it seems two years and a lot of thawing has gone on for her to forgive Cowell over the US X Factor debacle. We’re just uber excited for Cheryl’s outfits if this turns out to be true!

Little Mix Storm The X Factor: We’ve got a lot of love for those Little Mix minxes and it seems so do the rest of the UK after the girls returned to the X Factor stage last night to belt out new hit, ‘Move’. Looking gorgeous in black bralets, black jeans and Dr Martens, we’re seriously crushing on their new style.

And finally….

blog.image-face.thor-041113-ukThor, more like phwoarrrr! Ladies, any excuse to post a picture of the beautiful Chris Hemsworth and we’ll take it. Starring in Thor Dark World, which opened last weekend to rave reviews, here he is in all his Thor-like glory…. You’re welcome.

Style File: Little Mix

It’s nearly two years since Little Mix lifted the X Factor crown (we know, where has the time gone?!) and the girls are back looking hotter than ever.

The cutest lot in the business, we loved their refreshing attitude to style- wearing WTF they liked with two fingers stuck up to the industry and any doubters- these ladies meant business and we had a lotta love for them.

‘Wings’ was all natural make up and cutesy denim, ‘How ya doin’?’ had us dip dying our hair and breaking out the ‘kapow’ t-shirts and spiky headbands, so how will new tune, ‘Move’ compare in the style stakes?

Well, on first glance we reckon it’s a fashion hit. Rocking monochrome, tartan checks, crop tops, jumpsuits, sharp tailoring, true blue and high collared shirts, this is the grown up Little Mix and we are loving it!

Like the Spice Girls (we know, retro right?!) All Saints (remember them?!) and Girls Aloud (the queens of pop) before them, each Little Mix-er has their own style. Let’s break it down…

Leigh-Anne: All about bodycon and big hair, Leigh-Anne loves to mix and match textures and is the queen of clashing prints. We don’t know many people who could make stripy leggings and purple leather work, but somehow she manages it!

Perrie: Known as the experimenter in our eyes, Perrie will give anything a go- two tones of pink hair on top of bleached blonde? That is BRAVE! We’re loving her relaxed tailored boy meets girl style here, with the fedora hat making a star turn. Get one quick!

Jesy: The urban queen, Jesy looks gorgeous in this vid, showing off her newly toned abs in tight fitting tees, customized denim cut offs and big Dr Martins. Gal got attitude and isn’t afraid to show it.

Jade: Cute as a button, don’t ya agree?! All about the braces, babydoll dresses and bowties in the beginning, Jade has gone all grown up on us here with high collars and 90s style jumpsuits. We heart.
