Well, that’s it! New York Fashion Week is over for another season and we’re officially in mourning, because the SS15 collections were just out of this world.

But hey, fashion month ain’t over- you’ve still got London then Milan waiting, so don’t fret about feeling cut short of your Spring ’15 outfit planning. Besides, in case you didn’t know, Fall is just around the corner and we’re super excited to slip into those booties, and keep ourselves warm and comfy with sweaters! Aren’t you?

But let’s go back to #NYFW. From #StreetStyle and trend spotting, to celeb and FROW sightings, and of course, obsessing over your favorite designer’s collection, there’s always something interesting every season.

So we’ve got a list of things we’re obsessed with and then some other things that went straight in our Burn Book 😉

Here’s the 10 things we’ve learned from NYFW SS15…

1. Kendall Jenner er… “Kendall” was the “IT” model for NYFW

Kendall is by far the most buzzed model for New York Fashion Week. Starting off with her first appearance at the Diane von Furstenburg show alongside Naomi Campbell and Candice Swanepoel, she has dominated the runway this season.

We spotted her next rocking a two-piece bikini at the Tommy Hilfiger, then she hit the runway for the Donna Karan presentation. Lastly, she made her second runway appearance for Marc Jacobs, which was a great way to end NYFW. She’s definitely doing the rounds in NYFW with appearances left, right and centre and we know this is just the beginning for her. You go, Kendall!

2. Kudos to Fashion-Forward Thinking Designers

Every season, we’re always blown away by certain designers who think outside the box. Prabal Gurung & Creatures of the Wind expanded their offerings with a footwear collection, which debuted along with their Spring presentation. A great move for both designers, because a girl can never have too many shoes, right?

Then, Rebecca Minkoff had her audience wearing 3D glasses to see the final looks in her show, complete with models working her new wearable technology jewelry collection. Amazing!

3. Flowers and Pastels clearly spells out S-P-R-I-N-G

Need we say more? These colors and patterns are trends that always have a direct relationship with Spring, but it’s the way how designers work around it each season which keep it fresh. BCBG MAX AZRIA, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Michael Kors and Jeremy Scott added some spice and edge by focusing on specific floral patterns and pastel hues this Spring. Honestly, we feel like Spring is an endless garden party with their pieces, and we actually don’t mind at all.  (more…)

The countdown is officially on! And no, we don’t just mean to our AMAZING #shopcadelfw pop-up event and party, we mean to actual London Fashion Week!

New York Fashion Week is drawing to a close after an amazing few days of shows, with stand outs from Alexander Wang, Tommy Hilfiger (hello Kendall Jenner!) and J. Crew.

We’ve followed it closely, from all the top shows to the hottest street styles hitting the tent; we even caught Rihanna heading into Alexander Wang on Saturday!

So as the spotlight shifts to London, here’s our pick of the shows we just can’t wait to see this season!

1. House of Holland

Who? The King of Slogans

Why? The celeb packed FROW for one reason! Expect to see the Primrose Hill set out in full force, plus the two Lily’s (Allen and Collins) have been papped in rarely anything else for the past few months, so they are pretty much a shoo in for this season. Henry Holland’s AW14 collection was my favourite to date; an amazing collection of vibrant jewel colours, bold solgans and plenty of sequins to liven up the dull winter. Can he top this for SS15? Oh I’m sure he’ll give it his best!

Where? Saturday 13th September, 6.30pm

2. Topshop Unique

Who? Er, the most popular high street chain has a high end line… AS IF you didn’t know!

Why? Well if the ‘who’ section of this little preview doesn’t convince you, then last season’s wondrous oversized furs, stunning tailoring and downright gorgeous sixties mini dresses sure will! Topshop pretty much have the teen to early twenties market sewn up and this is just another string to their ever expanding bow. Always a celeb magnet, the FROW is bound to be bursting and we have a sneaky feeling a certain Kendall Jenner may well be walking this season too. Watch this space.

Where? Sunday 14th September, 3pm

How To Dress Like Kim Kardashian

on

Kim Kardashian

How can we describe Kim Kardashian without using to the nickname ‘Kimye’ or mentioning her famous derriere? Hmmm…unique is probably the most accurate description, but perhaps that doesn’t go far enough in describing her iconic look.

We’re not going to delve into it too much further; we’re just going to tell you how to get the Kim Kardashian look for yourself.

Kim Inspired Dresses

Dresses are Kim all over and they’re definitely something you’ll need to be getting into your wardrobe. There are so many different styles that she’s been pictured in that it is impossible to pick out just one (we’ve gone for three, you can go for however many you like!) so just remember to glam up and you’ll be fine.

  • The first Kim inspired dress we’d wear is a sequinned mini dress. Kim wears it in blue, but it’s totally up to you what you want to go for. Sequins are highly fashionable and are great both for showing off or understating your look, depending on what colours you go for.

  • An off the shoulder skater dress is our second essential selection and is perfect for wearing either to casual or formal occasions, and even on the beach, too!

  • The most iconic Kim Kardashian dress is probably the long sleeved “bodycon” dress that uses great fabrics and panel detail to give you a look to die for.

Cannes Style Watch 2014

We’re officially on Cannes Style Watch right now as the festival continues to showcase some of the best dressed women on the planet, and we’re only on day five!

Cannes is always a feast for the eyes fashion wise, but this year it really has taken on a whole new level of glamour. Want to see who has made out hot list? Then read on below and check out our fave looks from Cannes past and present right here!

Blake Lively: Fresh from nailing it at the Met Gala earlier this month, Blake is on fire right now as the hottest gal in Cannes. It helps she has the likes of Gucci and Chanel dressing her, but what we reckon is really doing it for her is that handsome bit of man candy she is carrying around everywhere right now, AKA Mr Ryan Reynolds. HOT.

Kendall Jenner: Kendall looked stunning, even if she did play it a little safe at the opening ceremony of Cannes a few days ago in a pretty little Chanel monochrome number. Critics weren’t overjoyed with her selection, but we reckon she looked dazzling and super sophisticated for her age.

Cheryl Cole: Our Chezza gets a mention purely for the fact she was falling out of a nightclub, struggling to keep her food and drink down and STILL managed to look as stunning as ever in off-duty leather. In Cannes doing her beauty duty as a L’Oreal ambassador, we’re seriously counting down the days until she is back on our X Factor screens in the summer… can you imagine the dresses?! Ahh #excited

Jennifer Lawrence: Now J-Law can rock a frock like the best of them, but she’s only 23 and sometimes it’s nice to see her looking her age in a pretty white ensemble. Granted, it’s Dior but still! She looks gorgeous with her newly grown out pixie crop in soft waves here as she attends a photo call for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Love her look? Shop it here!

Want to turn heads this season? Then unleash your inner celeb and check out our best selection of party and cocktail dresses right here!

Boohoo’s StyleFix Editor Talks Top Trends For Summer

We have nothing but mega love for Boohoo here at Shopcade HQ, so we were pretty chuffed to land a quick Q&A with the lovely Emma, Boohoo’s Stylefix Editor (yes that is her in our lovely circle of fame above!) to talk all about the upcoming trends for the season ahead. Check out her must have festival buys below…

Hey Emma! So spill, what do you think are the top trends for SS14, and which ones are your faves?

The catwalk saw a heavy sports influence in embellished sweats and athletic looking socks with sandals. Each season we see sport done in a different way and this spring it’s better than ever. Metallics are a huge trend at the moment, because nothing looks as mesmerising as a glittering metallic piece on a hot summer’s day, from skirts and dresses to clutch bags, this is one for all you magpies out there.

Eastern inspired and flowing with tassels, the Dolce and Gabbana show was something to behold too. Come summer everything gets a little more relaxed and bohemian and this collection transports you to faraway shores. A key piece is the tasselled bag, invest now and team with sheer layers to get the look. Pastels are an obvious spring trend, but I personally can’t get enough. Christopher Kane sent pastel drenched models in midi skirts and sweatshirts down his runway and it was one of my favourite SS14 shows.

Which celeb is nailing it right now style wise?

One celeb that never fails to inspire me is Solange Knowles,  she always gets it right. We could all steal a little of her style! The bright colours, the bold lipsticks, the clashing prints; she’s not afraid to mix it up and stand out. And with summer just around the corner, she’s the perfect celeb to look to.

If we were going to pick one essential to have in our wardrobe, what should it be?

For me, it’s all about a simple black midi dress. I have a couple, from cami and high neck styles to midi t-shirt dresses. Such a simple piece can be styled so many different ways by mixing it with different jackets, accessories and shoes. Buy one and you’ll wonder what you ever did without it!

Festival season has just kicked off- what are some tips to be best dressed at the fest?

Festivals are all about having fun, and it all starts with fashion! So don’t be afraid to stand out, they’re the perfect place to experiment with bright colours, loud accessories and quirky sunglasses. If you’re feeling bold test out henna tattoos and body embellishments like Kendall Jenner did at this year’s Coachella festival – we totally loved her look!

And never leave without packing layers, wellies and something waterproof, it is NOT about getting caught out by the weather!

Ones to Watch: 2014 Style Icons

Banks: When you type ‘Banks style’ into Google, not a whole lot comes up. Just because it isn’t there doesn’t mean she’s not someone to champion because her style is awesome! Described on one site as ‘the most plainly obvious pop star you’re ever likely to see’ we reckon her gothic, almost model like qualities make her a big ‘ole one to watch on the style radar this year.

Chloe Howl: Chloe is a powerhouse right now and rightly so.  At only 18, she is taking the music world by storm and has a super cool style to match. The cute crop and eclectic vintage fashion sense means she will be a big one to watch as 2014 unfolds. Look out for her supporting Ellie Goulding later on in the year.

Angel Haze: DJ-ing alongside Lorde, Katy Perry and Ellie Goulding at the Brits last week, there was no doubt that Angel Haze had arrived. The American rapper has a cool, laid back street style we are just loving right now. If anyone can rock a varsity jacket, baseball cap and chunky jewellery with attitude and style, then it’s this lady.

Kendall Jenner: Girl is going to be mega in 2014, you mark our words. After walking for Marc Jacobs at NYFW, she swiftly hopped on a plane and was walking for Giles a few days later, alongside new bestie, Cara Delevingne. Kim’s younger sister is certainly blessed, rumour has it she’s dating a certain Mr Harry Styles too. Some girls have all the luck.

Natalie Westling: When you are as in demand as this lady, you can afford to be picky. Favoured by Marc Jacobs and Hedi Slimane (she walked the Saint Laurent runway as an exclusive thank you very much) she’s also starred in Marc Jacob’s SS14 campaign alongside the one and only Miley Cyrus. We won’t hold that against her though…

Lottie MossWill this be the year she takes over the world?! Probably not… but anyone who sits FROW at Topshop alongside Kendall, Kate and co. means she is a star undoubtedly on the rise. Loved her pastel pink sweat and leather jacket she sported for the FROW as well, displaying her (crazily long) pins proudly on show.

Imogen Poots: Frequently on the best dressed lists, we have a major crush on Imogen’s cool style. Rocking crochet tops, Henry Holland tights and reworking the LBD for the season taking the plunge with no fear at all. Plus you know she stars in ‘The Awkward Moment’ with Zac Efron this year, so she gets huge brownie points for working with the original (and still best) man-banged boy.

Adèle Exarchopoulos: A hot fave for the 2014 Oscars, Adele’s starring role in ‘Blue is the Warmest Colour’ has thrust her firmly into the spotlight. Thanks to all the buzz, we’ve seen her at countless award shows, but she is at her best style-wise off duty. Clashing prints from Prada and Harlequin dresses from Balmain, we can’t wait to see what she rocks for the Academy Awards later this week.

Karen Gillan: Snort not! the former Doctor Who companion is making waves in Hollywood with her starring role in the Marvel film, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, alongside the likes of Bradley Cooper and Glenn Close. Something tells us the newly bald Gillan will be mightily in demand in 2014, plus we’re crushing on her 60s retro style too.

LFW Day 5: Catwalk Round Up

on

day5roundup

Well that’s it for another season, LFW is officially over, but before the spotlight shifts to Milan, let’s take a sneaky peek at the highlights from the fifth and final day.

After the power players (Burberry, Christopher Kane) stomped all over ‘Mad Monday’, this was most definitely ‘Terrific Tuesday’ (see what I did there?!).

Fashion East, Meadham Kirchhoff, Simone Rocha and Anya Hindmarch to name just a few that closed LFW for another season to much aclaim.

Here’s my view on the top shows of the day…

Giles: Cara has been pretty selective this fashion week, walking in only a handful of shows, which included this one. Surprisingly though, she wasn’t the name on everyone’s lips today; rumoured Harry Styles’ squeeze, Kendall Jenner was the one who took centre stage. Looking gorgeous in a monochrome asymmetric dress, complete with poker straight punk locks and topped off with electric blue eye make-up, she looked every inch the celeb model. Other highlights included the cute buckled shoes and loafers each model sported, giving the runway a low key, approachable feel. Or maybe Giles just saw the Sibling models going flying earlier this week and decided to play it safe in flats?!
