Fashion Union - chloe Millard

Chloe Millward is Fashion Union‘s fashion buyer so who better to be part of the Style Council, scouring the Shopcade app for the most stylish looks! Find out below what floats her style boat and what she can’t live without below!!

Do you look for your trends straight from the catwalk or elsewhere?

I look for trends via WGSN & catwalks firstly, the season prior for work but personally – blogs and Instagram are a great, easy platform to follow bloggers, stylists & designers all around the world on.

What trends, if any are you loving this season?

I’m feeling all 90’s this season so I’m loving the ‘high school dropout’ trend by day with my jumpsuits & oversize bombers and shoe boots, it’s such an easy comfy wear yet you still look sleek.

I love the ‘take me to the church trend’ by night because I like the sleek simplistic looks. I’m obsessed with bandaging & straps, lace, lots of black but with strong hair and dramatic smokey gothic make-up.

What’s on your shopping list this season?

This season a sleek coat is on my wish list – I fancy something tailored this year easy to take from day time at work to after work drinks. There’s some gorgeous co-ordinate sets and chunky cardi’s on my wish list to add to my wardrobe from Fashion Union to!

What do you think is the thing that makes people’s style really stand out?

I think it’s the uniqueness of how people put their outfits together not necessarily the individual items. Two people could wear the same top in a completely different way. I think style is the overall look – not just the clothing, it’s the hair and make-up too.

What’s on your shopping list this season?

Moving into A/W I’m on the look out for cosy knitwear, it’s so vital when the weather gets colder!

What do you think is the thing that makes people’s style really stand out?

I think people’s style stands out when they’re truly comfortable in what they’re wearing and are happy in their outfit. It’s an added confidence that comes naturally.

What trends, if any are you loving this season?

I’ve loved the amount of lace overlays that have been on trend. I’ve got a few pieces and they always catch my eye when I’m out shopping.

Who are your fave designers?

I love Reformation and Sandro but for high end designers as well as Saint Laurent, Givenchy and Burberry for their leather jackets!

Best high street brands?

I’m a massive fan of Zara and Topshop. I also love Monki and love to shop online at Missguided and Asos.

Whose style do you admire?

I love Ashley Madekwe’s style and Naya Riviera’s sharp look that she always has. I love Vanessa Hudgens and wish I could pull off the boho look as well as she does!

Have you ever had a fashion faux pas?

I’ve had a few yeah! I used to own this faux fur leopard print coat that didn’t suit me at all but I tried to make it work – I looked terrible!

What’s your favourite piece in your wardrobe atm?

I recently bought a linen mac from Zara. It’s calf length and I loved it so much in beige that I bought the exact same one in black!

What item could you not live without? Fashion/Beauty item…

I couldn’t live without my Mac lip conditioner – it’s better than Vaseline but not as sticky as lip gloss. And it comes in a few different shades too.

For our June Style Battle™, we’ve taken Style Council members on Shopcade dates to find out more about them, their style and what fashion advice they can share!

For this date we took Rachel Holland, our June stylist for the winner’s shoot, and Alice Luker, fashion photographer, to My Old Dutch, London’s infamous pancake house where we stuffed ourselves with savoury and sweet ones topped off with a Ferrero Rocher milkshake…delicious!

And now, to business…

Rachel Holland

1. How would you describe your style?

Heavily influenced by the 1960s and 1970s, often minimal, inspired by travelling and with a bit of rock ‘n’ roll thrown in.

2. What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe that you can’t live without?

My jewellery. I’ve been collecting unusual pieces for years.

3. What are your have trends this Summer?

I love the denim on denim trend, it’s so wearable and easy to pull off. Also carrying a leather rucksack instead of a handbag, it looks really modern and much more relaxed than a formal bag.

4. What are your fave three brands?

Acne, Margiela, Givenchy

5. Give us one piece of fashion advice…

Dress yourself in an organic, natural way and be true to yourself. Find your own individual style and your own way of dressing that feels good. Expressing who you are on the inside and reflecting it onto the outside beats mindlessly following the trends; That’s how most fashion editors dress – they find what works for them and they stick to it, almost like a uniform. You can then have fun switching up your look with accessories, jackets and shoes for each new season.

Ones to Watch: Edie Campbell

We’ve got a new style crush and her name is Edie Campbell. Feel like you vaguely know the name and recognise the face? Well you’re about to see a whole lot more of her thanks to her triumph on Monday night!

Named Model of the Year earlier at the British Fashion Awards, Edie beat off stiff competition from reigning champ Cara Delevingne to take home the coveted prize.

So why do we lurve Edie so much? Well, the girl rocked up in jeans, brogues and a sparkly cape to the BFAs, whereas every other leading lady went all out with a posh frock.

Granted Edie was sporting Louis Vuitton, so not exactly ‘something she just threw on’ but still- jeans is a pretty bold statement to make when you are in the presence of the crème de la crème of the fashion world!

So what do we know about Edie so far other than she’s a stunner? Well…

1. She speaks her mind: When receiving her gong she quipped “This is nice because models rarely get to speak!” Lol and LOL again.

2. She’s strutted for every major fashion house going: Chanel, Victoria Beckham, Valentino and Givenchy are just some of the power houses she has walked for. Cara who?!

3. She’s pale and interesting: Blue eyes & pale skin = natural beauty. We heart.

4. She has a mullet hair do and STILL looks gorgeous. Nuff said.
