I love London Fashion Week. There I said it. I love the chaos, I love the pretence, I love that my Instagram feed gets flooded with crazy outfits and I love the way London becomes the fashion focal point of the world for five whole days.

This season I was invited backstage with Toni & Guy, which was a new experience for me. Normally I’m used to watching shows on live stream, or standing squeezed between many other #FEditors at an oversubscribed show.

So the idea of seeing how it all comes together before the flashbulbs go off was really pretty appealing. My journey began on Friday night backstage at PPQ. The location? A private members club so hidden I walked past it twice before I clicked the people with clipboards and ear pieces…. epic fail, I’ll admit.

Heading underground I was quickly introduced to Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, the Global Creative Director for Toni & Guy. Wonderfully down to earth she explained her concept for the show- something intriguingly called ‘tiara hair’ and the model patiently bent her head for me to take a quick snap, or twenty, as the case turned out!

I really liked the look- painted glitter crowns on the parting, teamed with poker straight unfussy locks looked sensational. I saw the look on three different models, and all wore it in a different way, despite the style being identical; I guess that’s what comes from years of experience and 10 years of sponsoring London Fashion Week!

London Fashion Week Day 4 Highlights

It’s called ‘Mad Monday’ for a reason on the LFW schedule and yesterday it more than lived up to its name! With power house Burberry the highlight on the show schedule, shows from GILES, Christopher Kane and Erdem still proved a huge hit with a slew of celebs in attendance.

Issa, Peter Pilotto and Michael Van Der Ham also get an honorable mention too for pulling out all the stops, but as the spotlight prepares to shift to Milan on Wednesday, here’s our London Fashion Week Day 4 highlights…

Burberry: AW14 was all about the blanket cape (now flooding the high street) so all eyes were on Burberry to see what would be the must- have for next season following this epic success. The answer? the humble denim jacket. Past reincarnations from Christopher Bailey have included the aviator, the trench and the biker jacket, so it was only a matter of time before the signature denim jacket got a makeover. Bailey’s version came in a deep indigo colour, complete with sheepskin trimmings edged on the collar and hem in various different cuts, to flatter and suit all figures. A triumph once more, this will be EVERYWHERE come Spring 2015.

Who made the FROW? Jamie Campbell- Bower, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne & Paloma Faith (Walking- Suki Waterhouse and Jourdan Dunn)

Erdem: The collections are always so dreamy and fanciful, you expect to be taken into another world every season and once again he did not disappoint. Gothic sheer florals, pastels in lemon and lime and exotic prints, which left you with the feeling of being in the catwalk jungle; everything was impossibly beautiful and flawless; a symbol of runway life itself.

Who made the FROW? Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof and Daisy Lowe

GILES: The backstage passes featured pictures of The Jungle Book, the invites came in the form of a foam claw and the music that played during the show? exotic birds! Welcome to the wild with GILES and his disco jungle; a fabulously loud and OTT celebration for Spring.

Who made the FROW? Daisy Lowe and Jaime Winstone

The countdown is officially on! And no, we don’t just mean to our AMAZING #shopcadelfw pop-up event and party, we mean to actual London Fashion Week!

New York Fashion Week is drawing to a close after an amazing few days of shows, with stand outs from Alexander Wang, Tommy Hilfiger (hello Kendall Jenner!) and J. Crew.

We’ve followed it closely, from all the top shows to the hottest street styles hitting the tent; we even caught Rihanna heading into Alexander Wang on Saturday!

So as the spotlight shifts to London, here’s our pick of the shows we just can’t wait to see this season!

1. House of Holland

Who? The King of Slogans

Why? The celeb packed FROW for one reason! Expect to see the Primrose Hill set out in full force, plus the two Lily’s (Allen and Collins) have been papped in rarely anything else for the past few months, so they are pretty much a shoo in for this season. Henry Holland’s AW14 collection was my favourite to date; an amazing collection of vibrant jewel colours, bold solgans and plenty of sequins to liven up the dull winter. Can he top this for SS15? Oh I’m sure he’ll give it his best!

Where? Saturday 13th September, 6.30pm

2. Topshop Unique

Who? Er, the most popular high street chain has a high end line… AS IF you didn’t know!

Why? Well if the ‘who’ section of this little preview doesn’t convince you, then last season’s wondrous oversized furs, stunning tailoring and downright gorgeous sixties mini dresses sure will! Topshop pretty much have the teen to early twenties market sewn up and this is just another string to their ever expanding bow. Always a celeb magnet, the FROW is bound to be bursting and we have a sneaky feeling a certain Kendall Jenner may well be walking this season too. Watch this space.

Where? Sunday 14th September, 3pm

LFW Day 5: Catwalk Round Up

on

day5roundup

Well that’s it for another season, LFW is officially over, but before the spotlight shifts to Milan, let’s take a sneaky peek at the highlights from the fifth and final day.

After the power players (Burberry, Christopher Kane) stomped all over ‘Mad Monday’, this was most definitely ‘Terrific Tuesday’ (see what I did there?!).

Fashion East, Meadham Kirchhoff, Simone Rocha and Anya Hindmarch to name just a few that closed LFW for another season to much aclaim.

Here’s my view on the top shows of the day…

Giles: Cara has been pretty selective this fashion week, walking in only a handful of shows, which included this one. Surprisingly though, she wasn’t the name on everyone’s lips today; rumoured Harry Styles’ squeeze, Kendall Jenner was the one who took centre stage. Looking gorgeous in a monochrome asymmetric dress, complete with poker straight punk locks and topped off with electric blue eye make-up, she looked every inch the celeb model. Other highlights included the cute buckled shoes and loafers each model sported, giving the runway a low key, approachable feel. Or maybe Giles just saw the Sibling models going flying earlier this week and decided to play it safe in flats?!
