In the next stylish installment of ‘The Designer Store Meets’ we chat to the face behind uber cool T-shirt brand, LOTA! The go-to label for quirky one-off pieces, founder Nat talks us through her fave items on The Designer Store and what is inspiring her this season…

What made you start LOTA?

LOTA started out because I wanted to make myself t-shirts I couldn’t find on the high street or afford in boutiques! I wanted to create graphics/ t-shirts with designs inspired by my interests and inspirations. I created tees for myself, my family and friends. I spent some time in New York and visited lots of downtown boutiques and felt really inspired. LOTA grew from there!

What made you interested in starting a career in design and fashion?

I’ve always loved art and drawing since day dot! As a kid I was always drawing, and making things with my mum and sister who too are both very creative. I studied art and design from GSCE, A Level, art foundation through to my degree in graphic design and advertising at university.

I’ve always loved t-shirts, collected them and thought they were a staple piece in any wardrobe. My dad is in the music business and when he was a tour manager when I was growing up, he would always bring back band merchandise/band t-shirts. So from an early age I was interested In the different prints and how versatile a t-shirt was! My little sis and I used to wear the oversized rock tees he’d bring home from being on the road as nighties. I simply wanted to put my ideas and prints onto the medium of the humble yet stellar t-shirt! Put my pash on a shirt!

#NowPlaying at the Shopcade US Office This November

on

Here in the Shopcade US office there’s quite an eclectic mix of music taste between us. From indie rock to hip hop and everything in between there’s ALWAYS something playing on one of our Spotify playlists.

Now that it’s November, all ears are on songs that say goodbye to fall and hello to winter boot season. Not the OTK kind either. We’re talking about the rubber, ground gripping kind that beat the salt and sleet.
On the last few week before we’re totally bombarded with Christmas music – not that we mind – we’re all about getting down to the just-released jams from emerging artists, mainstream pop songs, and a few oldies-but-goodies while we work.

Check out the list (which we’ll be continuously adding to pre-Turkey Day) below. Let us know if we missed any of the new music you’re loving right now so we can tack it on.
