Our Shopcade Fashion Correspondents Analise & Sophie hit Global Gathering and here’s how it went down! Find out more from Sophie on her time there, who she was raving with and of course, what she was wearing…

“I was lucky enough to gain press access to ‘Global Gathering’ festival and attend on behalf of Shopcade. And boy, what a cracking festival it was! I didn’t get the tickets till two days before so it was a manic rush to raid my wardrobe and find the perfect festival looks before the big day – a fashionista’s gotta plan her outfit eh?!

I opted for the perfect festival footwear – a pair of Caterpillar boots in original brown suede; comfy yet fashionable footwear. You need comfy shoes when you’re at a weekend festival as you’re on your feet non-stop all day and you also gotta think about the weather and Cat boots are perfect if there’s mud.

On my top half I wore ASOS’s mesh tee with a black bra and high-waist pants underneath. I absolutely love the 90s mesh trend that’s taken over this SS14, it adds ‘edge’ to your style, something I try and work into all my looks. If you know me well, you’ll know I love over-accessorizing, so I worked a body chain into my outfit to finish off my look. Body chains have crept in as a late summer fashion trend but I just love them as they go with absolutely everything. That was only day one’s outfit! On day two I kept it simple and put on my fave oversized Adidas print tee – I wanted to go with more of a sporty vibe this time; another dominant trend.

Anyway, let’s get on to the actual festival! The journey up there seemed like it was going to be a nightmare, but with a cheeky search on the internet I managed to find a train to Birmingham for just £6!!! And then find another train that took us straight to Stratford-Upon-Avon, which was only £5! What an absolute bargain for a three hour journey!

Once we were there we grabbed our VIP press wristbands and headed to the campsite to set up… for girls this went surprisingly well putting up a tent – my friend used to be a girl scout so her knowledge did come in handy! The festival on the Friday didn’t start till 5pm so we headed round the site to check out everyone’s festival looks before everyone got hot and sweaty from the hot weather.

And WOW we saw some fab looks from you all! There was statement swimwear, denim shorts, crop tops, floral prints and fringing – classic festival styling. I was definitely attracted to the more 90s festival looks as that trend has to be my ultimate fave – probably because I’m a 90s chick! I was also impressed with the range of sunglasses I spotted at the fest! I have never seen so many styles in one place before. One thing from everyone’s festival fashion I was so inspired by was a girl’s hairstyle… She used a silk headscarf and plaited it within her hair; it was an absolutely fabulous idea! So if I could give you all a festival fashion style idea it would definitely be that one. I love people trying to be different; it’s just so intriguing. I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the weekend snapping away at my fave festival looks.

Global wasn’t all about the fashion though, the music was amazing! You had acts from ‘The Prodigy’ to ‘David Guetta’ & ‘Chase & Status’, all the way to ‘Katy B’. They all put on such a good show and every little detail was thought about from the lighting, to the set and their styling. I just love it when a festival does that, they give you more than just sound.

The festival itself was pretty darn cool too. There was a pitch-black club called ‘The Bunker’, a bar in the woods, a hot tub field, fairground rides and the most amazing VIP accommodation from tepees to mini multi-coloured sheds. The best festivals are always the ones that make the effort in the look and feel of the whole surroundings and atmosphere. Our Press tickets allowed us to access backstage areas, so we had so much fun mingling with the A-listers and jamming in the Artist’s Area. Charlie Sloth, one of Radio 1 extras DJ was amongst the A-listers we met and what an absolute babe; he was a pleasure to meet and was wearing the coolest Adidas tracksuit – it was basically a matching two-piece, so he was bang on trend!

Overall Global Gathering was a blast. The festival fashion was to die for and the music acts were banging. I would happily do it all over again….!”
