We’re gutted that London Fashion Week is over for another season; SS15 was a pretty strong showing with the likes of Burberry, House of Holland and Mary Katrantzou all presenting stunning collections.

As the fash pack head to Milan for another week of spectacular shows, here’s our take on the final day of the catwalk offering here in London.

Anya Hindmarch: Last season she gave us bags emblazoned with Tony the Tiger and DAZ washing powder logos, which became cult classics for AW14, so what would be in store for us this season? Well another fun ride in effect! Quite literally as it turned out; models sat in giant neon teacups pushed along by skeletons, whilst others strutted down the runway complete with a trail of helium balloons. The overwhelming message was FUN, with a nice nod of back to school as the collection came complete with customisable stickers. Our fave? The ‘Bags Have Feelings Too’ sticker was super cute!

Who made the FROW?  Susie Bubble, Poppy Delevingne and er,  Richard E Grant!

Ashish: Sequins, sequins and er, more sequins! We’ve come to expect this signature from Ashish and once again he did not disappoint for SS15. Rainbow hues were used throughout, whether that was on ripped baggy jeans, on a cute checkerboard mini dress or a good old fashion snakeskin co-ord. Fabulous fun as usual, with the disco vibe being firmly set by Ashish for Spring.

Who made the FROW? Ella Eyre and Rapper Eve.

H by Hakaan Yildirim: Founded in 2011, with a name change and new aesthetic to boast this season, H by Hakaan Yildirim gave us a collection focusing on the relationship with humans and nature. Giant bee motifs adorned jumpers, stunning hexagonal pleated pieces and sheer panelled dresses stormed the runway; it was a departure from previous collections with this season promoting a ‘less is more’ approach.

Who made the FROW? Olivia Cox and Tanya Burr

It’s called ‘Mad Monday’ for a reason on the LFW schedule and yesterday it more than lived up to its name! With power house Burberry the highlight on the show schedule, shows from GILES, Christopher Kane and Erdem still proved a huge hit with a slew of celebs in attendance.

Issa, Peter Pilotto and Michael Van Der Ham also get an honorable mention too for pulling out all the stops, but as the spotlight prepares to shift to Milan on Wednesday, here’s our London Fashion Week Day 4 highlights…

Burberry: AW14 was all about the blanket cape (now flooding the high street) so all eyes were on Burberry to see what would be the must- have for next season following this epic success. The answer? the humble denim jacket. Past reincarnations from Christopher Bailey have included the aviator, the trench and the biker jacket, so it was only a matter of time before the signature denim jacket got a makeover. Bailey’s version came in a deep indigo colour, complete with sheepskin trimmings edged on the collar and hem in various different cuts, to flatter and suit all figures. A triumph once more, this will be EVERYWHERE come Spring 2015.

Who made the FROW? Jamie Campbell- Bower, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne & Paloma Faith (Walking- Suki Waterhouse and Jourdan Dunn)

Erdem: The collections are always so dreamy and fanciful, you expect to be taken into another world every season and once again he did not disappoint. Gothic sheer florals, pastels in lemon and lime and exotic prints, which left you with the feeling of being in the catwalk jungle; everything was impossibly beautiful and flawless; a symbol of runway life itself.

Who made the FROW? Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof and Daisy Lowe

GILES: The backstage passes featured pictures of The Jungle Book, the invites came in the form of a foam claw and the music that played during the show? exotic birds! Welcome to the wild with GILES and his disco jungle; a fabulously loud and OTT celebration for Spring.

Who made the FROW? Daisy Lowe and Jaime Winstone

We’re halfway through London Fashion Week SS15 right now and with two days to go until the spotlight shift to Milan, how are we faring so far on Day three?

Well, pretty well if you consider the strong collections from the likes of Topshop Unique (THE hottest ticket in town) and Mary Katrantzou who showed yesterday, but more of that later, what really got the fashion world buzzing was our #ShopcadeLFW pop-up and VIP party!

HEBA and Dazzle & Jolt joined the event yesterday alongside our other fabulous brands for another day of music, makeovers and general fashion fun 😉

We then brought our #ShopcadeLFW pop up to a triumphant close with a VIP party, complete with candy floss, cupcakes and flutes of lambrini! We also had DJ sets from Cheyenne Davide, our very own Fabienne and the much anticipated set from the AMAZING Rough Copy.

Seriously, nothing could have prepared us for how incredible they would be! Choosing three tracks to get the party officially started, they brought the house down with their live performance, so a HUGE thank you to them for making our event so memorable; we are officially in love!

And with that, our #ShopcadeLFW adventure for this season is over, BUT with two more days to come of shows, we’ll be here bringing you the best bits. So without further ado here’s London Fashion Week Day 3…

Topshop Unique: Welcome back Cara Delevingne! Suspiciously absent so far for fashion month, this was her making a triumphant return to the runway opening and closing the show which EVERYONE was at! Joining her on the runway was Jourdan Dunn and Lily Donaldson in a collection which once again surpassed expectations. A sporty chic collection, combined with some beautifully beaded pieces summed up spring wonderfully.

Who made the FROW? Hailey Baldwin, Haylee Steinfeld, Anna Wintour & Alexa Chung

Mary Katrantzou: Oh my word; this collection was to die for! Geometric pieces, complex embroidery, beautiful spring floral patterns, intricate finishing touches and our personal fave, the appearance of a strange frog-person hybrid print! Mary cited that Pangaea, dance and flora and fauna were the inspiration behind this range; a natural progression from her previous collections and as visually strong as ever. Bravo!

Who made the FROW?

Matthew Williamson: Never one to disappoint, Matthew Williamson presented a collection for SS15 full of florals and 70s inspired prints and influences. Floaty maxi dresses, fluted hem skirts, summer accessories- this was a return to character for the brand; accessible pieces beautifully crafted. We can’t wait for summer!

Who made the FROW? Nicole Scherzinger, Poppy Delevingne & Olivia Palermo

Want to know how to throw the BEST #LFW event? Then you need to hit up our #ShopcadeLFW pop up and see how it’s done 😉 Today, after months of planning, we threw our doors open to the public and wow, what a reaction from you, our lovely users!

You came in your droves, posted tonnes of pics on our app, wrote on our wall guest book, and sampled sweet treats from the likes of Lola’s Cupcakes and Exquiste Sugar Tables.

We had a hoot on Day 1 with brands like Gemma Goldstone, High Spirit and Beauty Boulevard in attendance (Thanks for the purple lips FYI, guys!) and tomorrow will be just as awesome, with our LFW closing party, featuring a set from, wait for it… Rough Copy! *squeal!*

In all the excitement, we almost forgot the shows… ALMOST! Don’t worry, we still made time to head to Somerset House and present you with the highlights of Day 2, because A) we are clearly awesome at multitasking and B) We like you. So here you have it, Day 2’s highlights…

SIBLING: Big bows ruled supreme on the #LFW runway yesterday, alongside sequin dresses and fuzzy jumpers in a collection which was fun and retro- hello Desperately Seeking Susan. We loved how youthful and playful the range was; mini skirts and crop tops aplenty, but the prints also had a grown up edge to them as well.

Who made the FROW? Abbey Clancy & Daisy Lowe

House of Holland: If last season was all about ‘debauched debutantes; then this was the season of ‘plaster casters’ as hashtagged by all the celebs in attendance! A homage to the 70s, the collection focused heavily on embroidery and psychedelic prints giving a nod to the hippy era perfectly. The slogans were still there, although less obvious than last season and instead plastered on clutch bags emblazoned with the word ‘TRICKS’. Another triumph, Mr Holland.

Who made the FROW? Where do we begin?! Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof, Rita Ora & Nicola Roberts for starters!

KTZ: A late night appointment with KTZ and well worth the wait! Beautifully structured pieces flowed down the catwalk in the main colour palette of black, white and gold. Eastern and Mediterranean influences played a big part in the collection; printed cameos and Chinese lantern hats gave the pieces real grown up and accomplished feel compared to previous seasons.

Who made the FROW?: Us! And erm… Paloma Faith, Zandra Rhodes

Stay tuned for more #ShopcadeLFW gossip from tomorrow’s day event and VIP party!

London Fashion Week is here, and we are super excited @ Shopcade HQ, mainly because tomorrow marks the start of our #ShopcadeLFW exclusive pop-up event in Covent Garden!

We’ll be hosting a selection of amazing brands from our Designer Store, including the likes of Gemma Goldstone, High Spirit and KARIZMA, plus there will be blogger meet ups, live music and a mini makeover station where you can get your nails manicured by Elegant Touch and more!

So make sure you hit us up on your way wandering around Somerset House this SS15 season; it’s the only place to be 😉

Now, onto the day’s showing; who stood out on Day One and who really didn’t hit their style stride? Read on below…

Bora Aksu: Wow. That’s how you stand out on Day One. Yes, we know there’s still the power players of Burberry and co. to come, but this collection was so dreamy we’re ready to declare it one of our faves of Spring, even at this early stage! Layers of organza, sheer panels, cut out crochet and a complimentary palette of white, purple and navy blue sewing the whole collection together. One word; STUNNING.

Who made the FROW?  Laura Whitmore, Nina Nesbitt & MIC’s Rosie Fortescue.

Eudon Choi: This show is always a hot ticket and demand only increases every season, so if you get a seat, then consider it the equivalent of a golden ticket! Never afraid to go his own way and shun other catwalk influences, this collection was surprisingly dark for spring. There were hints of colour in beautiful grecian style dresses with a fluted hem and stunning printed tuxedos, but the overall theme of the collection was perfect tailoring, albeit relaxed and loose.

Who made the FROW? Susie Bubble & Delilah

J.JS Lee: Modern, simplistic, and clean; an exquisite collection presented which captured the spring colour palette to a tee; muted pastels in green and white, contrasted with beautiful big blooms in blue, white and black. Hugely wearable; a fresh take on summer that’s got us wishing it was March already!

Who made the FROW? Millie Mackintosh & Olivia Cox

London Fashion Week SS15 Style Essentials!

on
2014-010914-020914-030914-040914-050914-080914-090914-LFWessentials

London Fashion Week SS15 is nearly upon us, so as the curtain falls on New York Fashion Week, the stylish among you need to be prepared for the mad dashes between shows, the constant achy feet and looking good on two hours sleep!

Luckily, we’re here to help! You will have seen our NYFW essentials list last week, and now it’s time to shift the focus to the fashion capital.

Here’s our LFW style essentials to make sure you stay fashionable and fabulous this season!

1. Statement iphone case: It used to be your bag which got people talking, but now technology has well and truly taken over. Let your phone do the talking this season with a slogan case to stand out from the crowd.

2. Colourful Trainers: Last season was all about the flat shoe, with just a hint of trainer, and this season it has fully taken over. You’re not anyone unless your sporting Nike Roshe’s or Adidas Originals @ LFW this year. Take note.

3. A Blanket Cape: The weather can be changeable, so the last thing you want is an oversized coat- however fashionable- making you look like a sweaty mess. Opt for the autumn cover up choice this season, a blanket, as seen on celebs and models alike.

4. A Watch: Sounds glaringly obvious, but a watch isn’t just a fashion accessory, it actually tells you the time as well! When your phone inevitably dies, this little beauty will make sure you don’t arrive anything more than fashionably late.

5. Wet wipes & antibacterial gel: Do you have any idea how dirty London is?! Exactly, these two items will be your savior each and every day as you hop between shows.

“It’s all about the creativity, innovation, and fun”, says Amber Atherton about London Fashion Week, “as Britain’s biggest fashion event has come to an end”. We couldn’t agree more!

LFW Special

As I bumped into Markus Lupfer on the bus the day after LFW madness had ended, we pondered the success of the week and the promise of Paris! Highlights for me this LFW were definitely Fashion East, ASHISH, Anya Hindmarch, SISTER by Sibling, Simone Rocha, and Sophia Webster Shoes. Another important thing was the abundance of digital led creativity, especially from brands like Burberry and Anya Hindmarch; I also know everyone was regularly checking the #lfw hashtag at My Flash Trash HQ!

As I started packing for Milan with another fashion adventure beginning, I couldn’t help but smile at all the British charm, talent, and true English rock ‘n’ roll fun that’s gone down over the last week.

Check out my LFW inspired list to look fabulous next season!

“There is no better way to close an exciting Fashion Week than watching the shows of Britain’s most exciting new designers”, says Amber Atherton.

LFW Special
The day started with the mega exciting launch of Anya Hindmarch’s voyage of self-discovery. It was a super smart move to combine astrology – a personal much loved female point of guidance – with e-commerce. A digital start to the day lead to deep discussions on the relevance of concepts and fun in online experiences.

So much later and we were dashing off late to possibly my fave show of LFW, Fashion East. The packed venue was full of familiar faces, as we said hello to birthday girl Pixie Lott and caught up with Chelsea Leyland. The show began and the camera flashes on Harry Styles calmed down to give way to the AMAZING collection by Ryan Lo which was a strawberry shortcake dream.

A little bit later, Claire Barrow’s Fashion Monsters was an eerie barefooted show of hand-painted glory – but most of all I LOVED Happy Ashley Land aka Ashley Williams! Her ‘dream boat’ collection was full of fun, mixing boating chic with the cowboy edge of Miami Vice! Despite the rain that poured down, London Fashion Week had reached to an end in the best possible way. Under the Fashion East initiative, three of Britain’s most exciting new designers had just presented their amazing collections – all under one umbrella!

Forget diamonds. A girl’s best friend during London Fashion Week is none other than shoes that can support her in all her activities: from catwalking to dancing at the after-show parties!

LFW Special

Traffic – what can you do about that little old thing that causes you to miss fashion shows? Either way, good old livestreaming made sure I still caught the KTZ show. I love the element of music and sheer attitude that always runs through this label’s collections. After a quick coffee I headed into the courtyard to check out the Rock Vault that featured some amazing jewellery designers and the new pop up shop which has super cute bits and bobs.

Home to change my Nicholas Kirkwoods for some mega Terry de Haviland heels for my best friend, model, and poet Greta Bellamacina’s birthday dinner. After a wonderful dinner party, we headed out to the Serpentine for the event of Diesel that had invited mega babe Aluna (and George) for a live set. Dancing till dawn, the much needed shoe change to Nike high-tops meant that day 4 of London Fashion Week had the most shoe changes in a single day!

Sexy heels, dreamy prints, and great after-shows tunes were on Amber’s check list for the third day of London Fashion Week…

LFW Special

Day Three was spent mostly swooning over Sophia Webster’s amazing shoes. Jelly sandal heels and scrabble letters on a stiletto spelling out ‘KILLER HEEL’ were enough to make anyone forget the rain, which continued to pour down much to the dismay of many umbrella-less fashion babes.

Lily Cole’s experimental dance at Vivienne Westwood was probably the most talked about thing of the day, whilst Mary Katrantzou’s dreamy head to toe floral graphics collection was definitely my most loved to date.

Off to Sanderson in the evening, where my super duper singer friend, Yadi performed at the ‘Love is the Law’ magazine party – a hop, skip and a jump from swanky new hotel the Edition, where my Flash Trash girl city bracelets made a debut at the launch of Paula Goldstein’s (of Purple Magazine) new site!

Gin and Prosecco punch fuelled the crowd as I caught up with Edie on her NYC adventures, before we all went downstairs to Dominic Jones’ rave. Chelsea Leyland spun fresh hip hop beats and my Sophia Webster shoes were the perfect dance till dawn companions!
