Oscars Fashion: The Style Hits

We don’t know about you, but it felt like a quiet one at The Oscars last night. Sure there was the usual mix of the super A-List, the kind of A-List, the high society lot and the people you just had no clue about, but there wasn’t any WOW fashion moments like we have had in previous years.

Everyone played it pretty darn safe, but that’s not to say that there weren’t some total style hits. Here’s out rundown of the winners in the style battle last night…

Lupita Nyong’o: She really gave new meaning to the term, ‘fairy tale princess’ on the red carpet last night. The pale blue Prada number (which had been made especially for her, no less) was just gorgeous; empire line, pleating, complete with delicate sparkles woven into the dress and topped off with minimal accessories. We’re talking just a cute sparkly headband and earrings here, which completed the look perfectly.

Jennifer Lawrence: It’s seriously hard to believe that she is only 23. Jen, that quiff ages you, even if it is straight off the Tom Ford runway. That said you know how to rock a gown and for that you get mahoosive thumbs up from Team Shopcade. Never stop being you, never stop falling over at prestigious events and never stop being totally honest when asked stupid questions. 😉

Lady Gaga: Well she scrubs up well doesn’t she? We were mightily impressed with Gaga’s look at The Oscars this year, rocking the pale metallic trend to perfection. Don’t get us wrong, we love Lady G when she causes a bit of controversy with her outfits (meat dress, anyone?) but we get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when we see her look THIS good as well. Face of Versace, you have done well.

Anna Kendrick: Someone is certainly not in K-Stew’s shadow anymore! Anna Kendrick (star of the uber hilar Pitch Perfect) just looked totally amazeballs last night in a sheer panelled black gown. It wasn’t a safe choice (ruffles, panelling, red beading) and it could have gone oh so wrong (in fact many of the US fash pack hated it!) but Anna’s got youth on her side and a killer accessories package to match. Art deco earrings and pillar box red clutch= fab, darling.

Kate Hudson: Who you may say? Yes, we know she has been off radar lately, but what a return to form! Looking sensational in a backless silver and metallic Versace gown, Kate had the Hollywood look down to a tee on the red carpet. The side swept hair, the minimal jewels and the smokey make-up…. screen siren alert!

Well, that’s us done being nice! Check back later for the style misses of the night… (*evil grin*)
