New York Fashion Week kicked off yesterday, marking the official start of Fashion Month! We’re beyond excited for London Fashion Week and our amazing Shopcade pop up event coming VERY soon, but until then let’s focus on NY and their SS15 offerings!

With a jam packed schedule to get through for the next week, we thought we’d make it nice and simple for you and give you the lowdown on the shows you can’t afford to miss!

Here’s the New York shows we are SUPER excited to see this season at #MBFW

1. Marc Jacobs

Who? Oh come on, it’s Marc Jacobs! As if we need to explain who this legend is! 😉

Why? The swinging sixties trend that you are currently eyeing up all over the high street? Yeah, you have MJ to thank for that and his AW14 offering showcased in Feb. He always presents such a covetable, wearable collection, so we’re fairly certain whatever he brings to the table this season we’ll be raving about in six months time yet again!

When? Thursday 11th September, 6pm

2. Jeremy Scott

Who? Jeremy Scott, the super cool Creative Director of Moschino.

Why? Because he’s plotting with Miley Cyrus and we’re likely to see the results all over his NYFW show! He let slip at the VMA’s last month that he’ll be using ‘cool kids’ instead of models on the runway and Miley has a key role in the project. Interesting! If it’s anything like last season’s Moschino triumph of slogan pieces (he actually made McDonald’s cool!) then we are in for a visual treat.

When? Wednesday 10th September, 1pm

3. Coach

Who? A much loved American brand, Coach went through a major reinvention last season.

Why? Last season, Stuart Vevers (he of Mulberry and Loewe fame) unveiled the brand’s first ready-to-wear collection for AW14 to near universal acclaim, so we’re keen to see what he has in store for SS15. Plus Chloë Moretz is a big fan of their Dakotah fringe bag, which pretty much seals the deal for us!

When? Thursday 4th September, 9am

4. Zac Posen

Who? The man behind the power gowns and jaw-droppingly-beautiful dresses. Sigh.

Why? Zac Posen is the go to brand for many celebs in need of a showstopper at big events. Jessica Alba, Katie Homes and Jessica Chastain are big fans of his and for us, his shows always lend a touch of the whimsical about them. Who doesn’t want to wear a princess dress after all?!

When? Monday 7th September, 7pm

5. L.A.M.B

Who? Hello, it’s Gwen Stefani’s label!

Why? Her label has been going for a decade now and is still going strong. We love L.A.M.B’s (an acronym for Gwen’s first album Love.Angel.Music.Baby) street style ethic, complete with edgy prints and other light-hearted touches, making the collection super wearable and relevant each season. The label itself is a pretty big operation; not only does it include clothes, it also encompasses bags, shoes, fragrances and watches. Phew! That Gwen is one busy lady.

When? Friday 5th September, 5pm

6. J. Crew

Who? The ONLY big retailer to show at NYFW, overseen by Creative Director and Designer extraordinaire, Jenna Lyons.

Why? We predict this will be one hot ticket, thanks largely to Jenna and her amazing vision for the brand. Super chic, her style is all over the brand, which is why it is such a hit- everyone wants to dress like Jenna! J.Crew creates trends rather than following them, which is why it has such a huge following and is respected as a leading brand. We think this season will be no different, and can’t wait to see what’s on offer!

When? Tuesday 8th September, 9.30am

7. Alexander Wang

Who? The go-to label for grungy cool, who coincidentally will be launching a collection with H&M in November

Why? If the above statement doesn’t convince you then how about taking a closer look at the pieces themselves. A mix of decades combined in one, all updated for the modern girl and given a contemporary twist. This is partly why we can’t wait for the H&M collab to hit… we’re expected mighty big things for a relatively small cost. Win- win we’d say!

When? Saturday 6th September, 5pm

8. Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

Who? Style icon and actress Chloë Sevigny turned designer for Opening Ceremony.

Why? Don’t be fooled, this isn’t Chloë’s first season designing for the brand, oh no she’s a true pro. We loved last season’s nod to the sixties mod girl and our very own Brit icon Twiggy. The difference with Chloë’s collection is that it’s super wearable and on-trend without being too out there, which considering some of the things which come down the runway each season, is a bit of a blessing!

When? Sunday 6th September, 7pm

And the rookies we’ll be looking out for…

9. Zoe Jordan

Who? Appearing on Fashionista.com as a ‘Ones to Watch’ here is a designer we are mega excited to see make their debut!

Why? The name may seem vaguely familiar and that’s because she normally shows in London. However the BFC in their infinite wisdom thought her collection was better placed with the NY buyers, who are more likely to snap up her fab designs. The badge trend shows no sign of letting up, so could we be in for more of the same from Zoe this season? Only one way to find out… make sure you catch the show!

When? Saturday 6th September, 7pm

10. Edie Parker

Who? Also appearing on Fashionista.com’s hit list, we just got so excited by the glitter clutch we forgot about everything else in the world for a second!

Why? Those clutches may look vaguely familiar, and that’s because Edie Parker has had a sneaky NYFW presence for the past few years, but not just the runway, oh no, they’ve been papped in the hands of fashion bloggers pounding the pavement instead. We’re excited to see what’s next for the brand, given that designer Brett Heymen has just got a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination. Big times ahead we predict!

When? Saturday 6th September, 6pm

So there’s our hit list! Who are you excited to see this season? Keep up with all the latest #MBFW updates on our app, blog, site and social throughout NYFW so you don’t miss a thing!
