In the second of our curator specials, Yuen Lim gives us the lowdown on faux fur this season. With celebs like Fearne Cotton channeling this trend, we reckon it’s here to stay.

Over to you, Yuen…

Put aside that coat or jacket – faux fur is a trend that is taking the winter season by storm. What I love about this trend is that it makes a statement on its own and keeps you warm – what more can you want?!

Either go subtle with hints of faux fur on your outer wear, or go all out with whole faux fur gilets or vests. The best part about this trend is that you can simply throw it on for a luxurious, couture look without trying very hard at all. That’s your lazy day sorted! Oh and, no animals were harmed in the process 😉

Whilst creating my Faux Fur list on Shopcade, I was thinking about ways to incorporate something unique into my wardrobe or closet that is still season appropriate. Of course, the perfect addition was something that is out of the ordinary, puts you as the center of attention and most importantly, prevents you from getting frostbite.

With the faux fur trend, it may not seem like it, but it is in actual fact, super versatile. You can style it two ways – either keep it simple and minimal for a casual outing, or as a cover up over a glittery, glamorous party dress.

As a cover up, I would definitely go for the cropped Brave Soul Faux Fur Jacket layered over the elegant Missguided Gold Belted Open Back Maxi Dress for added warmth. Then, to top it off pick a sparkly pair of gold heels in my Oh My Gold list. Perfect for that formal Christmas event or dinner!

If you’re more of a daytime person, the Missguided Orla Faux Fur Detail Coat in deep green would be great as the faux fur lining is subtle and won’t attract as many curious eyes. For this, simplicity is the best policy. A feminine dress from my Smock Dress list would be a the perfect fit. But if that’s not your cup of tea, maybe Pleather Cuff Leggings and a Striped Open Shoulder Top will do the trick!?

The best thing about Shopcade is that you get everything in one place and that it saves so much time and effort. Especially when you want to compare prices or want to organise your ‘wish lists’. Instead of having a different one for different stores, you can sort them out into garments, which makes it loads easier to keep track of. Also, Shopcade notifies you whenever there’s a deal on your ‘wanted’ item – your bank balance will definitely thank you for that one 😉
